Customs formalities for shipping to Dubai
Any shipment of goods to the United Arab Emirates must be accompanied by a pro forma invoice in 3 copies. This one will be provided to you pre-filled with the information communicated at the end of your order on Upela.
For all shipments to Turkey, the value of the shipment must be clearly indicated on all documents. Make sure that the information is identical on all documents to avoid a blockage at customs. You will need to provide a Declaration of Origin on the Invoice (DOF) or a EUR1 to allow the consignee to either reduce or waive customs fees.
If you are sending a parcel with personal belongings or goods not intended for sale, do not forget to indicate "Free of charge" on the invoice.
Importing weapons, alcohol, alcoholic beverages, lottery tickets or pork products to a private individual in the Emirates is strictly prohibited!
Certain goods are subject to customs restrictions for shipments to the United Arab Emirates:
- Packages with a value not exceeding 500 dirhams (130.46€) are exempt from specific customs formalities. This rule also applies to shipments whose value exceeds 500 dirhams only if they are not of a commercial nature (e.g. personal effects)
- For commercial shipments exceeding 500 dirhams, the sender must provide the following documents:
- original invoices authenticated by the UAE Consulate in the country of origin
- certificate of origin
- a description of the contents of the packages
Sending parcels to Dubai: prohibited goods
In addition to the goods prohibited for air express transport, the United Arab Emirates does not accept :
- Firearms
- Drug products
- Counterfeit money
- Printed material or productions that offend Islamic teachings
- Raw ivory and rhinoceros horn
- Pirated content
- Goods originating from Israel and any products containing Israeli trademarks or logos
- Goods whose importation is prohibited by UAE laws, or goods imported from boycotted countries
